North Korea is 'getting the message'

Continuing his trip from South Korea, Pence sat down with Japanese Shinzo Abe upon his arrival in Japan on Tuesday to discuss measures to tackle the North Korean nuclear issue.

"Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) made the argument during an interview with NBC News, saying that war would be bad for South Korea, Japan and other countries in the region, but won't reach the U.S., while an intercontinental ballistic missile could do". "If the United States dares opt for a military action... the DPRK is ready to react to any mode of war desired by the Americans", Kim told a news conference, using the abbreviation of the country's official name.

Despite knowing that the test was a failure, both the South Korean and US government are still unable to determine the type of missiles that North Korea used. Our nuclear weapons protect us from that threat.

The travels and travails of China's veteran point man on North Korea underscore China's growing frustration in its efforts to broker a negotiated solution to rising tensions between North Korea and the United States.

The Trump administration is hoping that China will help rein in North Korea in exchange for other considerations.

"You read Clinton's book, and he said 'Oh, we made such a great peace deal.' And it was a joke", Trump said.

A U.N. Security Council statement condemning North Korea's latest attempted missile launch was obstructed Wednesday following Russian objections to its tough stance. They also say greater Chinese cooperation is vital. The shipments may have been refused simply because China didn't need them.

On April 14, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said conflict over North Korea could break out "at any moment" and warned there would be "no winner" in any war.

The new forum for trade talks was launched by Trump and Abe during the Japanese leader's visit to the U.S.in February. Since the North Korean ships were turned away, analysts have noted China is not using almost as much coal as it did for a few years.

15 April: North Korea puts on a huge military parade - complete with missiles - to mark 105th birthday of the nation's founding president, Kim Il-sung.

Foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said China opposed words or actions that could further raise tension.

"At the same time, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China strictly adheres to its global responsibilities, including those from Security Council resolutions", Lu told a daily briefing.

North Korea has been aggressive in developing and testing its nuclear weapons over the past few years.

He also said the situtation is made more complicated due to a change in the South Korean presidency about to take place after Park Geun-hye has had to resign from office due to political scandal.
