The RX 500 series is for those who did not upgrade to a Radeon RX 400, NVIDIA GTX 1060 or 1050 Ti cards.
Radeon RX 580 and 570 graphics cards are available on sale today and RX 550 graphics card will be available by April 20th.
Radeon RX 550: The doorway to PC gaming - Featuring 2GB GDDR5 memory, the RadeonRX 550 delivers up to an average 4X higher performance vs. competing integrated graphics, and up to an average of 1.7X the performance of the RadeonR7 250 at an SEP of US$79. Boost and base reference clocks are 1244MHz and 1168MHz, respectively, and cards will have 4GB of GDDR5 memory (7Gb/s) riding along on a 256-bit interface. Anandtech's review implies that the RX 570's power curve is a bit better than the RX 580s, meaning the gap between the stock RX 470 and a custom, overclocked RX 570 is about 10 percent smaller than the equivalent gap between a stock RX 480 and an overclocked RX 580.
The Asus Radeon RX 580 Dual sounds like it could be a very exciting Crossfire-on-a-stick card.
There are similar clock speed improvements across the entire 500-series, although partners are expected to push those clocks even higher. It comes with eight compute units compared to sixteen in the RX 560 and has a boost clock speed of 1183 MHz.
The graphics game is going to be seeing a brand-new wave of competition, since AMD has just recently announced their new range of Radeon graphics cards - the 500 series. The RX 480 only made its debut in June of 2016, but the Radeons are moving up the flagpole, and we have an Asus Strix RX 570 in our hands, with the test results to prove it. The Radeon RX 570, according to AMD, should get you maximum settings at 1080p resolution. The RX 560 is a 1024:64:16 design with a base clock of 1175MHz compared with the RX 460's 1090MHz, for a gain of 8 percent. The RX 560 is priced at $99 and will be available in May. And it can achieve this level of performance within a 185-watt typical board power that necessitates a single 8-pin supplemental PCI Express power feed. Though, you'll notice the Radeon RX 570 has one fewer heat-pipe and lacks front and back-plates, so not all Twin Frozr VI coolers are created equal. The RX 500 series represents a "re-spin" of RX 400 architecture assuredly.
Bringing up the rear of the range is the new RX 550. A non-Golden Sample version of the Red Devil RX 580 will carry an MSRP of $230.
Radeon Software Crimson has established a new standard for graphics card's driver software.
Want to use your new RX 580 for VR? Despite the manufacturing process maturity, the higher clocks came with a price, since both RX 580 and RX 570 also have a higher power consumption. £180 or AU$300 for the RX 580 8GB.
