While Jio is asked to discontinue the Jio Summer Surprise plan, the company has come up with Dhan Dhana Dhan offer with same benefits, but the new entrant is now claiming the offer as 'First Recharge, ' rather than a promotional offer. Jio is in the process of fully complying with the regulator's advice and will be withdrawing the three months' complimentary benefits of Jio Summer Surprise as soon as operationally feasible, over the next few days.
The Rs 309 plan provides unlimited SMS, voice calling and 1GB of data per day at 4G speed for 3 months on first recharge. Recently they also announced the new Summer Surprise offer which is not available anymore since TRAI advised to take the offer down.
This time, Airtel finally opened up on the issue drawing satires on the new schemes, the spokesperson from Airtel called this new JIO offer as "old wine in a new bottle".
Jio has changed its earlier monthly recharge of Rs 303 under Summer Surprise to Rs 309 under Dhan Dhana Dhan and also changed the validity period from one month to three months. According to Trai, Reliance Jio has a subscriber base has shot up to 72.16 million users. As mentioned in the statement, users who had already subscribed to the Summer Surprise offer, prior to this announcement, will avail the benefits of this offer.
Airtel, controlled by billionaire Sunil Bharti Mittal, said that Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd.'s Dhan Dhana Dhan plan - which loosely translates to money, money, money in Hindi - violates the spirit of the regulator's directive and "essentially continues with a similar plan now masquerading under a different name". The surprise move by Reliance Jio will continue to add more subscribers to its base.
The two plans are priced at Rs 309 and Rs 509. You can also recharge with Rs. 509 and get 2GB data per day, unlimited local, STD, national roaming voice calls & SMS and access to Jio premium apps.
Reliance Jio had to withdraw the offer on April 6 after Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said it is not in compliance with the regulatory framework.
If I recharged with Rs. 303 now, what will I get?
Reliance Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan price starts at Rs. 309. New customers will have to subscribe pay Rs 408, which will get them Prime membership along with the data and other services.
