"Only a party which has sheer contempt towards secularism and democracy can elevate such a person to the office of Chief Minister", the Left leader alleged.
He reiterated his govt's commitment to ensure the welfare of all while taking the state ahead on the path of development.
Yogi Adityanath has been at the centre of numerous controversies.
A five-time parliamentarian from Gorakhpur, Yogi Adityanath has not held any administrative position in the government.
BJP state unit chief Keshav Prasad Maurya and party's national vice president Dinesh Sharma were sworn in as cabinet ministers by governor Ram Naik at a grand ceremony at Kanshiram Smriti Upvan here.
The Bharatiya Janata party (BJP), which last weekend won a landslide victory in local elections in Uttar Pradesh state, announced after a party meeting on Saturday that Yogi Adityanath was its unanimous choice for chief minister.
Accusing the previous governments of being responsible for the sorry state of affairs in the state, Adityanath said work will be done to make development agriculture-based as it is main source of income.
Also, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav were also present at the event.
'Yogiji insisted to Venkaiah Naiduji that he needs two more strong arms to rule Uttar Pradesh'.
For a state that has always had law and order issues, the nomination of Yogi Adityanath as the chief minister, only brings more worry and bares open the possibility of a rise in religious intolerance. "Yogi Adityanath has always been the symbol of communal violence, riots, intolerance and hatred", he said addressing a public meeting here this evening.
Women's empowerment, their security and honour will also be on top of the BJP government agenda, the chief minister added. "Investment will be promoted for industrial development and it will be done for economic development", Adityanath added.
