Cleveland Cavaliers expect Kevin Love for upcoming road trip

Love, who hasn't played since February 11, underwent arthroscopic surgery February 14 to remove "loose bodies" in his left knee and was given a 6-8 week recovery timeline.

Kevin Love will start for the Cavaliers against the Jazz on March 16, almost two weeks before team doctors said he would return from February 14 knee surgery, Coach Tyronn Lue said in his pregame news conference.

"The medical staff just said he was great", Lue said prior to the game. Cavs general manager David Griffin indicated that possibility after Love took part in a three-on-three scrimmage on Tuesday. That's why the timeline was what it was. We just weren't with them.

"If he gets through it, he has no soreness, we'll let him keep taking the next step all the way through and we'll see what that means".

In the 46 games that Love has played this season for the Cavaliers, he's averaged 20.0 points and 11.1 rebounds.

Sanders is expected to play with Canton on Saturday and remain with the Charge during the Cavaliers' upcoming road trip. "He came into my office and said you're going to get a lot of questions today".

Nevertheless, as evidenced by Utah's impressive victory over Cleveland the last time these two squads met as well as recent statement wins over the Rockets and Clippers, the Jazz are showing more and more that they're not afraid of anybody and that they're beginning to garner confidence that they can compete with and defeat any team in the league. They said he's ready to go tonight.

Meanwhile, recently signed center Larry Sanders was assigned to the Canton Charge, the Cavs' NBA Development League affiliate, to work his way back into shape. He missed his only shot attempt while recording two fouls.

But while there remains an amount of uncertainty surrounding Kevin Love's return, Tyronn Lue is confident that his team is ready "to take off".

The 28-year-old Sanders was out of the National Basketball Association for more than two years.
