PSL discoveries Fakhar Zaman and Shadab Khan were named in both squads.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced one day International (ODI) and T-20 squads for the West Indies tour.
Highest run-getter in PSL 2017, Kamran Akmal has been called in in his place.
The 25-year-old opening batsman Shehzad, playing for the PSL finalists Quetta Gladiators, scored 242 runs at a notable strike rate of 132.24.
"The squads were also weighed on fitness and that's why Umar Akmal failed to get a place, due to a lack of fitness".
Ahmad Shahzad and Kamran Akmal have made a comeback in the team, while Azhar Ali can not be part of team due to bad performance, Inzamam said.
The other three top performers in the PSL - young all-rounder Shadab Khan, Usman Khan Shinwari and Fakhar Zaman - were also included for the T20 series.
Pakistan doesn't afford to slip lower than their present No. 8 ranking in the ODIs until ICC's deadline of September 30, otherwise it has to play the qualifying rounds for the 2019 World Cup.
Left-arm spinner Mohammad Asghar and allrounder Fahim Ashraf round out the group of five uncapped players picked in the squads.
Sarfraz Ahmed will lead both the squads with the first Twenty20 in Barbados on March 26.
Pakistan will play four T20Is, three ODIs and three Test matches during the tour of West Indies starting later this month.
