A Carnival Cruise Ship Almost Hit Some Jet Skiers

In the final tense moments Dept Primmer manages to drag the second woman into the boat before sprinting to the cabin to move the craft just in time as the ship ploughs past just feet away.

The pair were reportedly on spring break - where USA students head to the beach for sand, sea and sex - in Port Canaveral, Florida, and had gone jet-skiing.

"If someone gets too close to one of these ships when they're not supposed to, there's no way it's going to be safe", Murray said, according to the newspaper.

"Brown, the Captain and bridge team of the Carnival Magic, and Deputy Primmer for their outstanding actions that resulted in the rescue of these boaters", the Canaveral Pilots Association said in a statement. The wind pushed both women into the channel of the port, into the direct path of the cruise ship.

A cruise ship passenger captured the rescue on video as Brevard County Sheriff's Deputy Taner Primmer pulled the women to safety Saturday. During his response, one of the skiers fell into the water and tried to get back on, but that caused the jet ski to flip, hurling both of them into the water as the ship was bearing down on their position. He then backed his boat up into an area of safety.

However, a man in the video indicated the jet skiers had overturned their watercraft in the path of the cruise ship, and a report from Canaveral Pilots indicated they were operating within the navigation channel.

The rescue was posted to YouTube by a passenger onboard the Carnival Magic. Brown's quick actions also gave "Deputy Primmer the extra seconds he needed to save the young girls".

"I just wanted to take a minute to thank Deputy Taner Primmer for rescuing me and my best friend yesterday. We were extremely lucky to have him there to help us".
