New Wonder Woman Trailer Reveals Heroine's Backstory

The new trailer of Wonder Woman has been unveiled, showing Diana Prince's training as an Amazon warrior on Themyscira. Diana Prince can be seen kneeling in a stoic pose on what seems to be an island. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston.

The expectations around Wonder Woman are higher than ever, but judging from the footage - and assuming the footage will indeed end up in the movie - it looks like we've got a victor on our hands.

In addition to many more battle scenes of Diana using her bracelets, sword and shield in battle, the trailer has a few comedic moments thrown in from Trevor's sassy secretary Etta Candy, played by Lucy Davis. Like numerous other women there, Diana was raised to be a warrior, but per the instructions of her mother, Queen Hippolyta, she was trained much harder than the others so that one day, she would become the best of them all.

Gadot explained to EW that her character is multi-layered.

Have a look the brand new Wonder Woman poster below. What the wha? This movie looks endlessly entertaining and the trailer alone is worth watching ten times in a row. Check out the trailer and tell us your thoughts in the comments section below. The word "WONDER" features prominently, seemingly alluding to Diana's curiosity about the land beyond her shores, usually coined as "Man's World" on Themyscira. Diana takes it upon herself to help the pilot, leaving her home to end the war.

Written by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, Wonder Woman arrives in theaters on June 2, 2017. (Myself included in that statement.) So the weight of the expectations placed on director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot to get Princess Diana's first live-action solo film right must be enormous.
