Criss Angel Returns To Stage After Losing Consciousness During Show

A statement released on his official Twitter account explains that Angel lost consciousness during the show Friday. During the performance, while hanging upside down suspended by his feet, attempting to escape from a straitjacket, Angel was spun around for nearly two minutes before he became motionless and lost consciousness. The magician apparently went unconscious in mid-air while performing the trick and had to be rushed to the hospital.

TMZ reports Angel was taken to the emergency room at nearby Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center and discharged later that night.

After spinning in vain for about 2 minutes, he was quickly lowered down and the curtain closed onstage. "He is grateful for the outpouring of love and concern from his fans around the world". Sehl wrote, "He stopped moving, curtain down". Now show cancelled. Hope he is ok!

Audience members posted tweets and Facebook updates referencing an incident during the show, saying the show had been canceled shortly after starting. Angel's fans and the audience were concerned, though some people attending the performance were unhappy the show was halted after a break of about 15 minutes. For The First Time? During rehearsal for his then-upcoming show, The Supernaturalists, Angel's costar, Spencer Horsman, became trapped inside a box filled with water that hovered several dozens of feet above the stage.

The act also required him to hang upside down while buckled into a double-straitjacketed harness. He suffered a shoulder injury when performing a similar stunt in New York City's Times Square in 2013.
