On Friday, March 10, the world will say goodbye to Mystic Falls when The Vampire Diaries comes to an epic end in a two-hour series finale.
It's the one question you can't escape when discussing "The Vampire Diaries" - who should Elena be with, Stefan or Damon? "You'll know by the end of the first four minutes".
Lastly, when asked if there's a message Plec would like to leave for the fandom now that The Vampire Diaries is officially over, the showrunner shared that there is "nothing left to say".
As The Vampire Diaries fans will have seen, the actual ending saw Stefan (Paul Wesley) sacrifice himself to allow his friends to live happily ever after - including Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) to get back together and Bonnie (Kat Graham) to head off on her travels - but the original ending was actually very different. I wasn't ready. But, she gave a great eulogy to everybody about our place in the show. I care deeply about what I do.
"Then let me do this for me". "I finished my [final] scene. Literally, direct shot in my face", Wesley said.
"I read the script on the plane and it's just a culmination of so many emotions". "I was doing this emotional scene, crying or whatever, and all the sudden I have funetti in my eyes and I was like, 'Wait, what?' It was really amusing". "It was really amusing". It's more nearly like closure. The promise of peace is heaven, and at the very end Elena is reunited with her parents and Aunt Jenna. " The idea that all this show was about loss, grief, loss of people and ultimately I guess the final message is that all those people who have trained us and guided along the way live in us and if you Look inside, so we come out of reality right now and showed what it would look like, actually they were living and aging, but in the voice-over I cannot remember word for word, but I think she says, 'Damon will find peace.' And then she looks at the porch and sees her family and then Damon goes home and sees Stefan.", Said Kevin Williamson. Although it was sad that we didn't get to enjoy more scenes and flashbacks we will take what we can get and rock out while the vail was still temporarily down. "When I look back at everybody and see how everyone's changed in such a positive way and grown into such attractive adults, it's great and it's also kind of sad". And yet, Julie Plec & Co. still managed to surprise us with a reunion (of sorts) we thought may no longer be possible. It just hit me.
This popular fantasy teen drama is based off a New York Times bestselling book series published by L.J. Smith in the early 1990s.
Be sure to tune in to The CW tonight at 8 p.m. for the retrospective, and 9 p.m. for The Vampire Diaries' final farewell! If you're still watching this show in Season 8, then you are in it for the long haul. However, his plan completely backfires when human Stefan, who has been on vervain this whole time, turns right back around to be the hero we all know and love.
Kayla Ewell, who returned this season to play Vicki Donovan (who died in Season 1 but reappeared as a guest star in subsequent seasons), shared a photo of her character, writing "On the outside, looking in".
