'Beauty And The Beast' arrives in United Kingdom cinemas on Friday 17 March. "Rabid red-state homophobes may be incandescent with fury to see how things end up for him [the gay character] in the finale", it reads.
Condon said of the character wavering from lust and admiration for his friend: "It's somebody who's just realising that he has these feelings".
Disney's new "Beauty and the Beast" movie is already setting records, and it hasn't even opened yet.
"For me, the most controversial part of this movie that nobody's talked about is the fact that my horse in my opinion hates overweight people and threw me off every opportunity that he had".
Josh Gad has branded "Beauty and the Beast" as a film about "unity".
Disney classic's live-action remake will include its first ever homosexual character in the form of LeFou, the main antagonist's sidekick.
The movie features Emma Watson as Belle, the young girl who falls in love with a beast with a dark secret.
"LeFou is somebody who one day wants to be Gaston and on another day wants to kiss Gaston", Bill Condon told the magazine.
Josh Gad has responded to the reaction surrounding Beauty and the Beast's much-discussed "gay moment", voicing his view that "this film is one of inclusiveness". More specifically, according to the Russian MP who called for the film to be banned completely, it contains "obvious, barefaced, unscrupulous propaganda of sin and perverted sexual relations".
I know there will be some that do not agree with this decision.
Since the reaction to his role, the 36-year-old actor has spoken out and says the scene is "subtle but incredibly effective", and hints at a happily ever after for the two characters.
