Almost 56,000 people tuned in to watch the gentle giant Sunday morning as she peered over the dividing fence to catch a glimpse of her mate, Oliver, who paced around his pen. Each day there is frequent activity, and you can clearly see the calf kicking from inside the womb.
Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville began streaming Thursday, Feb. 23 on YouTube, showing April the giraffe preparing to give birth.
But it also isn't the first time the birth of a giraffe was streamed live for the world to see. April is still pregnant, and there is only one official site providing the live feed.
The zoo said Friday April appears "a little more on edge" and is "not being as lovely as usual". Once April goes into active labor, zookeepers will go in to help her the rest of the way.
To the dismay of million of viewers, April the giraffe has not given birth to her calf.
