As a token of appreciation, the company announced Jio Prime subscription offer for its first 100 million customers for helping the company test its network.
Many things have changed in India as far as the telecom market is concerned with the launch of Jio.
The company has said that it is targeting a 50% market share and expects the industry's revenues to touch Rs 3 lakh crore by FY21. The war of data is still in an active mode between the telcos in India.
The Prime membership offer requires customers to enrol by March 31. This means that customers get 14GB of data for 28 days. In case of Jio, one has to pay Rs 99 untill 31 March 2017 to become a Prime member. Jio held a meet with analysts to share its future plans and outlook for the sector.
Idea is imposing roaming charges for incoming and outgoing calls.
Now, you have read about the Jio plans; here are some of the hidden conditions of other telecom operators.
There are no happy hours and you will see data exhaustion and slow down of speeds once the daily limit of 1GB is reached. On a payment of Rs 346, Vodafone users get 1 GB of 4 G data per day for 28 days which is 28 GB of data. "This is one such segmented offering and the offer is valid only till 15 March".
Note that these plans may or may not be available in your telecom circle.
"We view Jio's market share assumption of 50 per cent as aggressive", it said. "What it does highlight is that Jio is focusing on high paying subscribers and not on the entire telecom subscriber base". You will have to do monthly recharges with that amount, otherwise, the offer won't be available. "We do not think incumbents can (or should) look at this as another promotional offering they can choose not to respond to".
Samsung Electronics and Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd on Wednesday won the "Best Mobile Innovation for Emerging Markets" at "Global Mobile Awards 2017" during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) here for the digital movement they had brought to India.
"Jio's strategy is to build huge capacity". The official Jio website will now let you compare Prime packs against non-Prime packs, which shows how keen the company is to get this plan going. "According to the management, it should be able to cater to 60 percent of estimated data demand in FY21 of 6 billion GB per month". RIL's forecasts failed to impress some analysts. And on the other side, Jio 4G network works only on a 4G phone. Though an integral one, that is only one part of the gameplan.
